A project to reimagine a family home in Berkshire composed of three parts: a surgical reorganisation of the ground floor living spaces, whose principal rooms were disconnected and either underused or working too hard; the renovation and fabric upgrade of a separate annexe building; and the connection of the main house and annexe with a new glazed entrance hall.

Renovation of the main house placed the kitchen at the heart of the plan with a new connection to the beautiful rear garden and generous living spaces; while the annexe renovation provided additional bedrooms for guests within a high-performing envelope.

The relocation of the main entrance- imagined as a lean-to glasshouse beneath a flowering pergola- helped to unlock new opportunities for the reconfiguration of living spaces, as well as offering a new and unusual welcome experience: arriving through the garden wall beneath natural shade.
